In the New York City area, gone is the notion that one must venture to Manhattan for collectible design and decor—within the last three years alone, international tastemakers and curators have established numerous worthy destinations for design in the Hamptons, bringing a new wave of creativity and conversation to Long Island. Luxury brands, too, such as Chanel and Gucci, have flocked east (just this May, Louis Vuitton opened its first-ever Hamptons location), while e-tailers, including Kathy Kuo Home and Serena & Lily, now have permanent outposts as well. With the summer season upon us, we spoke to designers Elena Frampton, Kelly Behun, and Roman and Williams’ Robin Standefer, all of whom have worked across New York City and the Hamptons for decades, to share their go-to spots for inspiring design in the Hamptons—where artisanal craft, unique perspectives, and the island's artistic heritage all shine.

Embracing designers like Faye Toogood, who seamlessly work between disciplines, Tiina the Store is one of the Hamptons’ most avant-garde offerings. "Founder Tiina Laakkonen curates the most perfect, obscure, beautifully made clothing alongside a selection of brilliantly crafted design objects, from tabletop to books," Standefer says. "We’re kindred spirits, reveling in the handmade, longevity, and the beauty that comes with age and use." The white double-height space, which features ceramic tile floors and exposed beams, reflects Laakkonen's emphasis on craft and artisans. 216 Main Street

Exhibition the Barn opens its newest show, Optic Garden, on June 24.

For five years, AD PRO Directory talent Elena Frampton has made Exhibition the Barn a destination for cutting-edge art and collectible design. The gallery features a rotating mix of shows, as well as Frampton's own line of furnishings, plus open houses and a salon series that play to the East End's artistic heritage. This summer from June 24–July 26, don't miss Optic Garden, which will showcase contemporary paintings and ceramics alongside collaborations between The Rug Company and visionary fashion brands like Diane von Furstenberg and Rodarte. No Hamptons decor list would be complete without a healthy dose of antiques. One of our favorite spots is Laurin Copen Antiques, which is located in the historic General Abraham Rose House, an 1842 Greek revival mansion. Midcentury-modern and Swedish design, folk art, and odds and ends (think 19th-century microscopes, fossils, and library ladders) are among the eclectic offerings that will add fascinating layers of history to any interior. 1703 Montauk Highway

Sure, maybe you’re already on vacation in the Hamptons—but for anyone hoping to feel even more transported, look no further than the Max ID NY outpost in Bridgehampton (conveniently a stone's throw from the SoulCycle barn). Maximilian Eicke, the visionary behind the brand and design office, built this showroom-cum-studio by hand alongside his wife, Irina Kro Eicke, and has imbued the space with Gilded Age flair using walls reclaimed from the historic Carnegie Mansion. Those impressive details sit alongside the angular futurism for which Max ID NY is known, which takes the form of furniture, tabletop goods, and more. (We’re also partial to the brand's cool, wavy beach chair.) You’ll need to make an appointment to drop in but are likely to get a tour from Eicke himself if you do. 1 Tradesman Path

Founded in 2022 by design industry veteran Amauri Aguiar and architect Bryan Young, Verso specializes in functional art and limited-edition collectible design by unexpected makers. Conceived as a traveling luxury showroom, Verso is activating the award-winning Six Square House (designed by New York City–based Young Projects) in Bridgehampton for the second summer in a row starting June 25 (appointment required). The 3,500-square-foot, two-bedroom home is located within walking distance of Main Street and the LIRR Station, and will be showcasing woodworker Ian Love's furnishings this season. Brass and Burl's brick-and-mortar outpost in East Hampton

Headquartered in New York City since 2015, e-tailer Brass & Burl has become a one-stop shop for design lovers seeking staples like Loloi rugs, Currey & Company lighting, and Jonathan Adler furnishings. Now they can visit Brass & Burl IRL at its East Hampton showroom. Rattan mirrors, blue-and-white porcelain, and rustic cabinets are some of the pieces on view that will seamlessly transition between city and coastal homes while providing a glimpse into the brand's wide-ranging online offerings. After 30 years of working in fashion design, Michael Giannelli decided to pursue his passion for gardening by becoming the new owner of East Hampton Gardens. The center relaunched during the summer of 2017 with an interior redesign by Giannelli's husband Greg Shano, who took inspiration from Palm Beach and English gardens. At the oasis, shoppers will find everything they need to cultivate a bucolic garden (think copper-roofed birdhouses and lacquered bamboo-inspired outdoor furniture) as well as fresh flowers and all the accoutrements one could desire for a decadent tablescape. While you’re there, we hear you may even rub elbows with Hamptons royalty like Ina Garten and Charlotte Moss. 16 Gingerbread Lane

Though Indy Home has a robust selection of bohemian and beach-inspired home decor online, the store has two physical locations on the island—the first of them in Montauk and, as of spring 2022, Sag Harbor as well. With countless affordable finds, there's something for every Hamptonite, not to mention the store's Indy's Own! Creations, which include mango wood and enamel serving sets, block-printed pillows, and jute rugs. All make perfect host gifts. 75 Washington Street

Monc XIII, a furniture, lighting, and luxury home accessories store, is a "a go-to resource for designers and anyone who loves chic interiors," says Kelly Behun, a longtime Hamptons resident. The stunning shop is the brainchild of Natasha Esch, formerly an interior designer in Los Angeles, who combines historic finds from her international travels with tried-and-true furnishings by the likes of Apparatus Studio, Carl Hansen, Ginori 1735, Hermès, and more. A testament to Esch's eye, Monc XIII's Instagram has amassed a six-figure following with its shots of its Hamptons and Connecticut outposts, as well as beautifully appointed interiors. 40 Madison Street

One of the newer additions to the Hamptons design scene is 1818 Collective, a joint venture from New York design veterans Analisse Taft, founder of ALT for Living, and interior designer Kristen Fine. Art-focused interior designers like Behun and Frampton flock to this store for its dynamic mix of vintage and contemporary statement-making furnishings and accessories, all displayed in a circa-1800 Greek Revival house. "The 1818 Collective offers a special, elevated experience like being in a personal beautiful home, which makes sense with Analisse Taft and Kristen Fine leading the creative vision," Frampton tells AD PRO. The store also hosts workshops with its artisans and makers. 43 Madison Street

Another gallery art enthusiasts can't get enough of on the island is Jeff Lincoln Art + Design, which is located in a restored 19th-century former power station in Southampton. "I always find something new to love there," Frampton says. "It's always inspiring and evolving with one of a kind works, plus Jeff is such an entertaining host." Visitors to the high-end gallery will find works by contemporary talents like the Haas Brothers and Rogan Gregory, as well as classic designers like Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé, plus creations by artists including John Chamberlain and Richard Prince. 200 North Sea Road

Founded by interior designer Quinn Pofahl, Jetsam Studio offers a "stylish curation of contemporary and vintage furniture, accessories, and art," Behun says. Unique terracotta vases with layered glazes by contemporary maker Joe Christensen and abstract paintings by Mark Saltz join furnishings by Le Corbusier and Jean Royère, resulting in a refined and highly collected aesthetic. 58 Jobs Lane
