The fourth annual Celebrity Golf Classic is taking place at the Granite Bay Golf Club on Monday.

Phil Oates, a Sacramento Kings minority owner and the board chairman for the real estate developer Buzz Oates, is the host of the golf tournament. It’s also sponsored by Bayside Church and Destiny Community Services.

The event raises money for charities.

"Oh, I'm not young anymore. You want to make a difference in life," Oates said.

Among the celebrities expected to participate this year are comedian Cedric the Entertainer, former Kings Mike Bibby, Mitch Richmond and Matt Barnes, and other stars from the world of sports like former MLB player David Justice and former NFL players Marcus Allen and Tim Brown.

"There's a group of us where the saying is 'you are rich by what you give and poor by what you keep.' You know you can't take it with you. One of the greatest things you can do is help others," Allen said.

Competitors teed off beginning at 10 a.m.

"You're rich by what you give and not by what you have. And, Phil is one of greatest guys I've ever met," added Vince Coleman, a former MLB player.
